Minus Eighteen!

Peek-A-Boo!
I just think this is an incredibly cute picture. She was reaching for the camera, yet was peeking around at me while doing it.

It’s a little after 10PM as I write this, and my thermometer tells me it’s -18.6F. Yeah, that’s pretty cold. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been taking part, as time allows over the last few days, in a most unique pilot project at Flickr. The Commons is an incredibly interesting and amazing beginning to broadening access to the Library of Congress’ photographic material (more or less all of which is in the public domain). To date I’ve really just been adding a few tags here and there to images, but that’s the entire point. It’s been a quite warm and fuzzy feeling to take part in that, small as though it may be. I’ve only made it through about 350 of the 3,000-plus images currently available through Flickr, but it’s been quite interesting so far.

What can I really say more? It’s just plain cool.

I have been keeping fairly busy this week. That’s a Good Thing. I really haven’t made it any further along with the 2007 filing project which I started last Saturday, but there’s only so much room on the floor back here, and I’m starting to really desire that floor space be liberated. ๐Ÿ™‚

I did a bit of a science experiment this morning, at approximately 9AM:

I’ve always wanted to do this experiment myself, but never took the opportunity. It was about -10F outside at the time. Of the quart of water that was lifted into the air, I speculate that less than a half cup of it actually hit the ground again.

It was pretty neat to be underneath it as it happened (I couldn’t see much of anything in any direction), but I also find the video angle quite interesting to watch as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

And that’s about all I an think of right off hand for now. So since I’m a bit on the tired order, I’m going to leave it at that and call it a night.

Until next time…
