More on Server Updates… Well, of course I can’t just leave the situation as-is, even though it technically works. This morning, I decided to take yet another stab at the problems with the server. This time, however, I was planning on eradicating Cyrus-IMAP from the system. The question then becomes…what system for POP3/IMAP do I…

Upgrading Woes Well, having looked a little more into the Cyrus IMAP thing, I’ve decided that the upgrade sufficiently FUBARred the mail handing stuff. Sendmail is working as expected, and for local mail, things are good. But, to get mail via POP or IMAP, there’s not a chance in hell without some serious time commitment…

And There Was Fedora… …Core 2, that is. After much downloading and waiting this week, I’ve managed to upgrade both servers (‘ns’ and ‘www’) from RedHat 9 to Fedora Core 2, skipping Core 1 due to the problems experienced last weekend. I have to admit that, for the most part, the procedure itself went fairly…

43 Days… Well, that’s how long it took before I restarted the old machine. Never would this have been feasible under my old configuration with Win98. So, with that said, my congratulations go out to Microsoft when it comes to stability with Windows XP Professional. The restart was actually ‘forced’ on me. After getting sick…

New Link Well, if you head over to my Links Page down in the Stupid/Funny section you’ll notice a new link to Mini-ITX, an operation which specializes in miniature computers. It’s very neat to see some of the weird ways in which they’ve created fully-functioning computers and servers. Server Troubles… After my little bit with…

To Upgrade…or not? Well, I finally got around to working on the server upgrades (to Fedora Core 1) at home here…only to discover something peculiar: They won’t upgrade! First off, the older box has a difficult time booting from CD as I ‘discovered’ today. I’m assuming that it’s a BIOS problem, since the drive itself…

Web Work! Well, it would seem as though my ‘work web project’ is coming along (and going) better than anticipated. After all, had you told me this time a week ago (which is about the time I was beginning to think about tackling the renovation/upgrade project) that I’d be as far as I am, I’d…

Twice in as many days? Yes, it’s true. I go through this news bit in streaks…it’s just that some times are better than others. Today’s news is pretty mild, actually. Nothing hugely important, but more of an informative entry. As of today, both servers have been up and running sans restart for over 90 days.…

A Flippin Month!?!?! Yikes, I knew it’d been a while, but I didn’t think it’d been that long. Much has happened in the last month or so, so I’ll just highlight the items of importance. FieldNotes FieldNotes Desktop is now in version 1.0.4b. This is (at least) two versions different than a month ago, and…

Happy Tax Day! Well, I guess not…really. I did ours in early February and have long since finished that process for the year. But, for anyone who waited until the last minute (or got an extension), my hat goes off to you! 😛 Geez, TWO WEEKS? Yeah, it’s been nearly two weeks since my last…
