Back Home…For A While, Anyway…

Well, another year of ‘sponsoring’ the student trip to the State One-Act Play Festival has come and gone. Again this year I would have to consider it a success! With the exception of the first 30 miles of our trip beginning on Thursday morning, the weather and traffic cooperated fairly well (as best as it could be).

This year we did something just a bit different and went to the Mall of America prior to checking into our hotel. This seemed to work out in a positive manner, as the group as a whole was able to eat much earlier than in years past (anytime after 5:30pm, as opposed to anytime after ~7pm). We also were able to beat fighting rush hour as much, and were also able to get in more time at the mall to do whatever.

Beth and I this year were fortunate enough to meet up with Ian and Melody, both of whom (together) we’d not seen since their wedding in August, and Ian whom we’d not seen since sometime this past fall. It was an enjoyable time. Of course, we (Beth and I) also spent a little time in Camp Snoopy…because it’s just a ‘thing’ one has to do while there.

Anyway, we saw two days’ worth of very good shows, although I was slightly disappointed in the AA class schools on Friday. I thought that (personally) the smaller A class schools had stronger productions overall (both in selection and performance), but both classes still proved to be the ‘best of the best.’

I also think that the group enjoyed the event and therefore also consider it a success. It’s something I really look forward to doing as well, so it’s a win-win situation. smile

So now we’re back at home and hopefully will be, at least for a while. No more three days here, four away. Besides, it really screws with the cat. smile

Until next we meet…
