More Bandwidth…GONE!

Well, as I do once or twice a week (more often just once per week over the last month), I checked out the access statistics and logs for the ol’ domain. Much to my surprise, since the middle of last week (e.g. about four-five days), there’s been a referral for over 3,000 hits.

This required investigation.

I was surprised to find that (yet again) someone had been linking to an image on the Monty Python Repository and posting those links on a shudder message board. Only difference between this one and the ones prior (which caused me to do the bandwidth stealing prevention CGI program) is that this guy was using an image that nobody else has (and I’d considered low-priority)…and as part of his ‘signature’ (for illustration). Furthermore, the placement of this image would make it somewhat prohibitive to use the bandwidth CGI to prevent this from occurring in the future.

So, I was forced to change the master page template for the Python web.

This change was actually minor and something which (I believe) makes it actually look better than it did before. I also moved the image and renamed it. I don’t actually use the image on the website anymore, but it’s still there (as there are still legitimate pointers to it).

Another big difference between this guy and previous — I was actually able to email him. The email essentially boiled down to informing him as to what I planned on doing later in the day (moving the image and renaming it), and that I would appreciate him at least copying the image and using his own hosted space to link to.

So, we’ll see what happens. smile

Tax Time Revisited

I had some time last night, so I took on the income tax returns beast last night. After a battle for about four hours (including some time this morning to finish up), that’s another one down for another year. smile Of course, I do things a little weird and do them all on paper, then find a free-file place online and copy all the information there. I do it for two reasons: 1) to see if I did everything correctly, and 2) to save some time in data entry (namely with some of those pdf forms one can fill in and print) during the process.

Things are beginning to SLOW DOWN…

…and that’s a good thing. Hopefully I’ll have some more time to get here more often and do some more updating (with pictures) and such.

Until next time…
