Here comes some food! She’s getting used to the
difference and actually eats pretty well for
being four-and-a-half months old.
It’s getting better in the weather department, although it’s a slow progression and I’m afraid it will only be a temporary bit of relief (so says the weatherman tonight). But it wasn’t insta-sweat when stepping outside today, so that’s good. A step in the right direction, you could say.
I got to play with a pretty cool camera system for a while this afternoon. It’s a remote-controlled camera used (in this case) for recording church services. We’re upgrading some equipment and I needed to do some troubleshooting on the DVD burner, so I ‘had’ to play around with the camera and record some video. Let me tell you, it’s pretty neat. No comparison to the old VHS camcorder and tripod on a stand business. Permanently mounted camera that can be remote controlled = cool. That and the transition to DVD recording is nice, too.
When I came home today, I worked in the basement some. Mostly in the ‘I’m starting to clean’ phase. I started in the cistern and swept out the cobwebs in the ceiling and in the corners. By the time I stopped, I had about half of the basement cleared of cobwebs. They were incredibly obvious to the eye after all the concrete dust from the last few weeks, so the job was actually quite easy. I’m still hoping sometime in the next week or so to get some time to work on cleaning the cistern walls and floor. Then I can use the area for temporary storage while I work in the rest of the basement (currently holding all the crap) and eventually get everything back in order in a place. This, as opposed to its current situation of ‘wherever it fits…’
I came across an incredible find tonight during my quest, though. I noticed a can of something stuck on top of the block wall in the corner of the cistern (not in the cistern). I knocked it down with the cobweb getter-outer thing and looked at it.
A steel Miller High Life can, pretty much in pristine condition. There’s a small amount of rust at the seam, but it’s not dented or anything. Very intriguing. My first instinctual question is how the can got there in the first place. It was obviously hidden…so I’m thinking some mischievous children… I’ll have to call up Bernice and ask her if she knows anything about it. But it’s a fairly old can, because it was before the zip tops and still made of steel. I’ll have to get a picture of it once I dust it off…because it’s quite unique.
It’s definitely the most unique thing I’ve found in and around this house.
Aside from that, I worked a bit more on the MZ Online site overhaul again. I need to do some tinkering with the secondary navigation menu drop-downs and also adding footer content, but once that’s done and tested out, I think it’ll be time to start creating the master template. I’m still working in a one-page environment, so I’ve not yet broken down the sections for creating templates. That won’t take too long, but I want to get the single ‘home page’ looking and working exactly as I intend before I get too wild in cutting it all apart.
So progress is being made, and that’s a Good Thing. So seeing as how it’s now pretty late, I’m calling it a night. Until next time…
